Default Photo organiser software

Very interesting article in June, Web User issue 451 on 'free windows photo viewers'.

What I want is the best photo organiser software to tame my 2GB of snaps into easy to find, create folders for events, facial recognition etc. (I don't need editing/photoshop capability).

I was happy with Picassa but it seems to have passed away.

Any thoughts on free or paid for software?
I use W10.

FastStone Photo Viewer, I use it every day. Does everything you need except perspective distortion, and if I could find a way of doing that within FPV I could at last dump my old (version 2) copy of Photoshop Elements.

One of the most useful facilities for me is Adjust Lighting. By playing with the Shadows slider, you can recover detail from the shadows of a picture, and the Highlights slider allows you to recover some highlights, both in JPEGs. Each slider is independent of the others, so the Shadow slider only affects dark areas and the Highlights slider only affects light areas.

Straighten allows you to straighten verticals and crops automatically. It also gives you a full screen preview of your actions.
