Hi Crocket and welcome to WU!

As long as you delete only your Gmail account, you should still be able to access all other services which are available via your Google Account. How to delete Gmail:

On a PC:

Delete your Gmail service - Computer - Google Account Help

On Android it's similar:

Delete your Gmail service - Android - Google Account Help

On iPhone and iPad:

Delete your Gmail service - iPhone & iPad - Google Account Help

If you're using Gmail on an Android device, this article from Lifewire may be helpful:

Remove a Google Account From Android Without Deleting the Account

Lightbulb Re: Over of Spam in Gmail

One Question Have you set any Filters up ang if so are they active or deactivated?
On my account they are deactivated but my filter list is mostly divert instructions from the early days of Gmail when like you I had Spam rolling in

But when the Gmail Server got my instructions it cut back the Spam and Problem post back to almost zero Needs patience won't happen overnight
Only get the odd spam or its a misdirected email per month
1 tip ..Do set up the Folders and make a redirect/Forward instruction in the Filters section Then you can build on that base

Here is how to Open up the Filter section on Gmail
1st Locate the Cog icon on the top of the message window (On the right side) and Select Settings on this menu
2nd on the new page Look along the Strip at the top for the words Filters and Blocked Addresses click this
From here It's a case of deciding what to Try out
but First this to start the Magic, at the Top of this new page on mine (as I've spent time on the Filters ) it Says The following filters are applied to all incoming mail:
The Inbox setting for important messages is set to "Override filters." That means "Skip Inbox" filter rules will be ignored for messages that are important. click the Link and Examine the Links on this next Page https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?tab=wm#settings/inbox
Quote:
  1. At the foot of the List you'll see:

    Importance Markers
    Show markers -
  2. Show a marker (◀ ) by messages marked as important.
  3. No markers
Gmail analyzes your new incoming messages to predict what's important, considering things like how you've treated similar messages in the past, how directly the message is addressed to you, and many other factors. Learn more
  4. Use my past actions to predict which messages are important to me.
  5. Don't use my past actions to predict which messages are important.
  6. Note: this will erase action history and will likely reduce the accuracy of importance predictions.
    [Filtered mail:
  7. Override filters - Include important messages in the inbox that may have been filtered out.
  8. Don't override filters
When you have finished click the Save changes button at the Bottom of the Page
I Suggest that selecting the Green highlighted items are the Best way for you to start purging/halting the Spam storm
Now return to the Filter page and Think carefully about The Key word
say for example its Watches go to the Foot of the Page and click on Create filter
On the Next page go to the Line "Contains the words" and try this trick Type in Watch* > * is a Wildcard character Then go down to click continue and another Window Shows with a long tick box List for the routing rules instructions
which you must study carefully .I only use 2 Tick boxes at most
Quote:
  • Skip the Inbox (Archive it)
  • Mark as read
  • Star it
  • Apply the label:
  • Forward it to:
  • add forwarding address
  • Delete it
  • Never send it to Spam
  • Always mark it as important
  • Never mark it as important
  • Categorize as:
  • Also apply filter to 0 matching conversations.

Looks daunting at first but can make your Gmail Box slim down and be faster in a few weeks

This Gmail support Post has all the same Info as I have been telling you about in FAQ /walkthrough format NOTE: Can change the topic by clicking the Topic in the Sidebar
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6579?hl=en

As for the origin Sources for this Spam .That's worth making another
thread about. They sometimes Change their name but the Content is unchanged Is dealable, don't fret OK?
