Default Government Gateway Website

Just wasted an hour trying to get through on this for a pension forecast. I had the same problem about 5 years ago. Nothing has changed. It wouldn't accept my old login (which took numerous attempts the last time to set up) and so I tried a new one, went through all the procedure (twice as for some reason it wouldn't accept something the first time) then locked me out. By far the worst, website I have ever, ever came across. Can we claim for wasted effort from these clowns ?????? Shocking.

You posted in the correct forum

Any sites associated with HMRC are the worst I've ever come across, and I've worked for chartered accountants for 25 years! Even the Agents Sector can be a nightmare.

Welll....you have your 12 digit number....followed by your password.....which doesn't work.....so they send you an access code....which doesn't work.....so you start all over again. Continue as before.....they have my comments but I don't suppose a human being will reply.....

I think it said it had locked me out for a few days. At least its Friday....absolutely terrible. Not that I'm in the mood to waste another hour.

I think providing you have enough Class 1 contributions, it started off at 155 last year subject to inflation increases.

There have been a lot of adverts on the radio lately for people to check what they will get, so I could be wrong.

I was fortunate to be applicable for my state pension when it was on the old system with multiple components making it up.

Unfortunately though, the inflation increase only applies to the basic component.

I did just short of 10 years in the army and got a deferred army pension when I reached 60.

This is in addition to my state pension.

When you left the navy did you get any notification of a pension or were you in long enough to get one when you left ?

I did 10 years in the RN and commuted it to the Civil Service when I left. I am getting it now because I'm 63. But I am looking at the state pension in a few years time to make sure I am fully paid up.

Accessing .gov websites is a nightmare. Perhaps if the pension forecast is your main priority here you should think of going the old-fashioned way. Fill in Form BR19,
https://www.gov.uk/government/public...sion-statement
and print and send it by post.
