Default Downloading zipped fonts from the internet

Idiotically I have forgotten how to download zipped fonts from the internet to the fonts folder. I get the option to Open or to Save the font. I seem to remember that I have to unzip the font but somehow can't get to that stage and end up by saving the font to the desktop. I have tried dragging it from there to the Fonts folder but it refuses to appear there. What am I missing (probably something quite obvious)?

What are the options if you right click it?

Would you believe they are fonts packed in a zip file? To use, download the zip file to the desktop. Right click on it, click on extract all and extract to the desktop. Open the new file this creates and, ignoring any txt, png or other extraneous files, drag the font ttf file into the fonts folder.

When I try to save the font it saves as something called a zip archive on the desktop. If I right click on it there, I get the option to Open With . . . and if I choose Windows Explorer I am able to see a window containing an icon labelled Truform Font. However, when I try to drag this to the the Fonts folder in the Control panel, it refuses to go there. If i right click on it I get no option to Extract Files:

Click on PeaZip to see the context menu.

The context menu for Peazip offers an option to Extract Files, but clicking on this simply gives:'How do you want to open this file?'(with File Explorer and Look for an App suggested). Clicking on File Explorer takes me to a window where the file has been downloaded - but it resists all attempts to drag it to the fonts folder.

Uninstall Peazip. Install 7-zip 16.04 instead. (Dont install the beta)

Thanks for the suggestion Calimanco. I was just about to give it a go when I discovered that instead of trying to drag the file to the fonts window I could achieve what I wanted by by double clicking on the downloaded font: this opened up a window with the option to 'Instal'. I shall now spend the weekend weeding out fonts I never use and installing more interesting ones.
