Question PC acting weird

My mouse stopped working even though lit up. So I used keyboard to run a program called tweaking.com which fixed mouse.

later on I copied a word document to make a back up. When I went into duplicate it was not the same. the bullet points had changed into strangle dingbat like symbols. If I clicked on them I could not delete them.

the only way to delete was to drag a section above and below to highlight the missing bullet point and then press delete.

any ideas?

System Restore?
Always check for bundled unwanted extras when downloading and installing any new software and be sure to decline them.
Use custom install when its available. Read all of every window before clicking.

Boot into Safe Mode and use Tweaking.com's repair program's Backup Tools to use the Registry Restore option to see if your mouse will still work and if the docs have returned to normal - if you have any left that displays that attribute.
