If you have Avast installed as well or have had it installed, then uninstall that to see if it resolves the problem.

Having more than one antivirus program installed can cause anomalous problems and even residue from an incomplete uninstall.

This is how to fully uninstall Avast - https://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility

To copy any of the errors in Event Viewer to your reply box, after clicking on them to see what they are, click on Copy/Copy details as text in the lower right pane then right click in the reply box and select Paste.

Hi Cantrel, I have uninstalled Avast but the problem remains. I have looked at the Event Viewer and I hope this is some help to you:

Log Name: COMODO Internet Security
Source: cmdAgent
Date: 17/05/2018 21:26:08
Event ID: 0
Task Category: None
Level: Information
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: RITCHIES-PC
Description:
The description for Event ID 0 from source cmdAgent cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Failed myRegistrar->Register 0x8004100e

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

Event Xml:
<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
<System>
<Provider Name="cmdAgent" />
<EventID Qualifiers="0">0</EventID>
<Level>4</Level>
<Task>0</Task>
<Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
<TimeCreated SystemTime="2018-05-17T20:26:08.752463500Z" />
<EventRecordID>2</EventRecordID>
<Channel>COMODO Internet Security</Channel>
<Computer>RITCHIES-PC</Computer>
<Security />
</System>
<EventData>
<Data>Failed myRegistrar-&gt;Register 0x8004100e</Data>
</EventData>
</Event>

Looking at this I am thinking a re-install of COMODO again might fix the fault? but as I said previously this is all a bit over my head.

Thanks for the help,

LittleDevil

I don't know if the corruption has arisen from having Avast installed but a reinstall wouldn't hurt.

It's possible that another AV program could have seen something it thought of as a threat in Comodo and removed it.

Not so long ago my Norton Security kicked out the .exe and removed the desktop icon of a legit program that I've had installed for a while.

I had to white list it for a while until the Definitions moved on but I contacted Symantec about it and perhaps they put things right - although I've done a Remove and Reinstall on my Norton a few times in the past when I thought it was chewy.

Thumbs up Re: COMODO Firewall 10 Start Up

Hi there Cantrel, I'm very sorry to have taken so long to reply to your last post but I have now, as you suggested, uninstalled Avast then uninstalled/re-installed COMODO and it is now working just as it used to.
Many, many thanks for yours and all the other help on this problem.
Now I just have to find an anti-virus program that doesn't interfere with the firewall lol. I am thinking of giving AVG a try again as I have used it in the past and it seems to be a fairly decent free option. Does anyone have any other suggestions please?

Thanks again.

Glad that worked - no need to apologise for delay in replying.

There are some suggestions in this article which you may find suitable.
