Default HDMI basic dongles ???

Hello,
I was wondering if any one could give me some pointers regarding these babies.
In short the HDMI socket has gone on my tablet, which means I'm unable to connect it to the TV.
As a cheaper alternative to the higher cost of repair I was looking at a Dongle to connect.
I looked at the usual top suspects, but I don't really need the built in services. All I really want is a cable replacement so to speak.
Is there such a thing as a basic no frills receiver?
I understand single core ones are a bit slow for some things, so 2 or better 4 core ?
Needless to say I'm looming at the best value.
Many thanks for any advice

Are you going to use it to watch Netfix and the like, if so then get a Chromecast. Excellent bit of kit and it 'just works'

No I'm not. I don't want it to do any fancy pants, just to connect my laptop.
BTW the TV is not a smart TV.

Im confused now. Intially tablet, now laptop. I still dont know what you actually want to do.

A chromecast does not need to a smart TV in fact it makes a dumb TV smart

I'm sorry that you've found my post confusing.
I thank you for your effort.

Go to Amazon, type in USB to HDMI converter in the search box and take your pick of what you need.

Thank you, that is an option too.
Fancied a dongle to avoid cable but it seems a basic but decent, no frills dongle exists.
Cheers to you both
