Default cd in laptop drive no longer recognised

I have tried several cds in my laptop drive and they are no longer recognised. So I cannot play them. They play on other devices.
Looking at device manager two weeks ago I am informed that 'device migrated.' Might this mean something, I wonder? Thankyou.

Open Device Manager. Uninstall the divers for the CD drive and restart Windows.

Thank you. Surely won't this mean that nothing will work as there will not be any drivers to allow it to?

Under normal circumstances, the drivers will re-install themselves during or straight after startup.

Thank you. There are two drives in disk drive which I have uninstalled and restarted. And CD not registering as present in Windows Media Player which I use.

Are they recognised in the optical drives ?

If yes, can you meantime try another media player ?

Have you tried the Troubleshooters ?

Control Panel - All Control Panel Items - Troubleshooting - then click on View All in the left pane.

Thank you. Not sure how I find out if anything is recognised in optical drives?

i have tried Groove Music and that does not appear to recognise a CD inserted into the laptop.

I tried Troubleshooting and could not find view all...(sorry).

If only I could find a restore point which took me back to Sept 12 as it was the day before my 'device migrated', it seems?

If autoplay not used, inserting disc in optical drive will show change in Explorer/File Manager from >
e.g. to, depending on whether audio, MP3 or DVD >

Control Panel > Troubleshooting > Hardware and Sound > Configure a Device - I'd guess best to try at this stage
