Default Scanning Slides

I have some railway slides that I took back in the 1980's.

What is the best/easiest/cheapest way to scan them?

Thank you.

It depends on how many you want to scan and what quality you need. If its only a couple of dozen slides then there are firms that can do this for you.

If you have a large number then something like a Canon MG7550 printer/scanner for around 100 fit the bill.

There are cheaper printer/scanners around.

But the cheaper ones don't all do slides. The reason is that if you scan a slide in an ordinary scanner the most of the light passes through the near transparency of the slide instead of being reflected back on to the sensors.. A scanner that can scan a slide has a secondary light that shines through the top side of the slide. I also found that the reproduction is pretty poor even with a slide scanner compared to a projected picture. This one seems quite cheap and this type does seem to do a better job than a flatbed scanner with a secondary light for slides.

There are others and the price does go up.

Amazon also sell the ION film and slide scanner. Have a look at the reviews before deciding it suits your requirements.
