Default Network Drive issue

Hi,

I have a GoFlex Seagate Network access drive attached to my router, and this allows me to access all the files from the drive on portable devices when away from home even if the PC is switched off.

However the Apple app is now not compatable with the latest ios system, and I can no longer access the drive.

I have found the ip address of the drive (192.168 etc) but entering this into my browse on the ipa, just goes to "seagateshare.com/mobile... but wont go to the server.

I can still access the Goflex from my PC, and see all the files.

Seagate support seems to fail when I enter the SN: of the device.

Looks as if I will have to buy a new network drive.... .... so

Whats a good network drive which I can connect to my router, and access the files from away from home without resorting to cloud services (which would cost a fortune for 2GB)

Thanks

I've been using one of these Buffalo Linkstation NAS drives for a couple of years, and had no trouble with iOS devices when I switched from Android last year. It's still working now, and my iOS is up to date so should be OK for you I imagine. Mine is an older 1TB but I assume the newer larger models are exactly the same operationally.

Looks good - can I connect a printer to the USB?

Also - are there apps for the IOS?

Thanks

I haven't tried connecting a printer to it as mine is already wireless, however according to the documentation there is a built in print server, so it should work, will just take a bit of setting up I guess.

As for the iOS App, that's a yes.

HTH

Been away for work and holiday, but picking this back up now...

Had a read of the reviews, and they are mixed, BUT... the bad reviews seem to relate to bit torrent stuff (which I wouldn't be using) so all I really need is:

A drive that will be left "On" and connected to my router.
From this (via ios apps) I will be attempting to access the files I have stored on it.
Namely:
Document backups
Photo backups
pdf file backups
Music backups (can I play music files stored on it on my iPhone whilst abroad (with a reasonable wifi connection)

My current Seagate/goflex is a 2TB drive unit, and the Buffalo I've been looking at is the 3TB unit.

It's such a shame, because the Seagate unit is fine on my PC at home, but Seagate aren't updating the apps in line with ios updates, so all I'm getting is "unable to log in" (even though my username etc is definitely correct.)

Seagate support haven't bothered to answer my request for a solution.

Will the buffalo do what I need?

Thanks
