Default Windows 8 Login Screen

I am running Windows 8 on my laptop and have disabled the login via the user accounts control panel. This has worked on start up but I am finding that on leaving the computer (switched on) for a while and returning I still have to to enter my password to get back in. I thought that taking off the password requirement would stop that as well but apparently not. Can anyone advise me how to remove the need for a password at all please?

There is an option to change the login password via the control panel in Windows 7. I suspect Windows 8 has something similar. Just leave it without a password during the change process. Hope that works.

Joe.

Thanks for the reply Joe.

In windows 8 it is just a matter of checking a box to specify that a password must be used. If left unchecked no password box is actually shown. It only appears when you need to add/change a password. I think this must be slightly different from Windows 7.

Go into the Control Panel (icon view) -> Power Options -> Require a password on wakeup -> Click ?Change settings that are currently available? to activate Password protection on wakeup section -> Put a check mark in ?Don?t require a password? -> Save changes.

Edit:
All these questions marks are beyond a joke now. It's so embarrassing for Webuser.

Do I assume you are using a quote mark which is being replaced by a question mark? Like this 'some text' or this "some more text" If that is true, as you can see, it works perfectly well on my PC.
