Default 1803 stopped my Epson printer!

Help! I have an Epson Workforce wf7610 A3 Printer scanner it has worked fine for 3 years on W7 and W10, but since updating to Windows version 1803 it will open the scan software but after one scan crashes!

By reverting back to version 1709 it works fine again but obviously I can't keep the PC on 1709.

I reinstalled the unit on another PC with 1803 installing all the new Epson drivers and firmware but the problem is still there.

There seems to be no way to contact Epson unless you pay for support.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

There seems to be many complaints on the Windows 10 forum about Epson scan software not working in 1803. Suggested solutions whilst waiting for Epson to fix their software include
Use the Windows 10 built in scan facility. Any program that uses the Windows Image Acquisition API will also work.

Some users report that changng to compatability mode worked for them. Others said it did not. Right click on Epson Scan and choose Properties. Then choose Compatibility, click Change settings for all users. Tick run on compatibility mode, and choose Windows XP SP3

Thanks for the links.

I sent a message to Epson on the messenger and did get an answer back very quickly, they said that they are aware of a problem with 1803 and their scan software and are working on a fix. They suggest not updating till they have one. However mine updated several weeks ago and cannot be reverted to 1709!

Some years ago I had a problem with printer/scanner software crashing my computer after an upgrade. I found that uninstalling, then re-installing the software did the trick. Itís worth a try!

I have tried that, I also updated to the latest firmware. I have one PC that I managed to revert to 1709 and the machine works fine on that but it's only a matter of time before windows auto updates again!

Thanks for your reply.

My Epson flat bed and 6x6cm film scanner has been scuppered by the autumn update.
They don't produce any new drivers, just cannot be ar$ed.

Epson4490

Frickin expensive too, I now avoid Epson products.

The Epson scan software is not compatible with 1803 update they are working on a fix.

If your scanner is a good one it's worth trying Vuescan which has it's own drivers for over 6000+ scanners you can test it out for free but it will carry a watermark, to remove it costs a one off fee of around £29 so it's worth it if you scanner is decent and you want to keep it running.

I tried it on 3 scanner printers inc my Epson mentioned above and all worked fine with Vuescan.
