Not me, but there must be some out there who are responding to those ads.
A business is not going to continue spending resources if there is no return on their investment.

There's all the current fuss about junk food ads targeting the youngsters and probably the ones who have gotten used to buying junk food in an attempt to curb the obesity in those generations.

As I only buy what I need these days, I'm impervious to ads for this, that or the other.

"Probably more use as Tax deductible costs for companies to offset against their accounts. "

I know not of anyone that has watched an add then gone out to purchase the item. Do you ?

They certainly do not influence me, now with the internet if I wish to purchase an unusual item I use that to do my research as I am sure do many others.

Being with Sky when we wish to watch a commercial channel on tv we do a search for it later then download it which automatically removes all ads from the programs.

Sheer Heaven.

The percentage of sales resulting from such advertising is so small that it is not surprising that you know of no one who has made a purchase.

To answer the question: Yes, I have known somebody to make such a purchase.

So that is why their prices are so inflated.

Ditch the ads, Then they can charge a fair price, Stop annoying the majority, Stop believing everyone wants your goods, We are not all gullible morons.

Picaso

I don't think you are understanding the concept of using adverts.
If a business spends say 10 Million Dollars/GBPs on advertising and they then they make a 13 Million Dollars/GBPs profit, minus the advertising costs and overheads, then they are making money. That's what businesses hope to do otherwise they will not do it or they sufferer the consequences of a bad business plan.

No business wants to waste money. If a business chooses to continue to have an advertising policy, often an aggressive one, then I think it's fair to say they are making money from it.

I do not wish to understand the concept of making adverts, I just don't want to see of them or a lot less.

If I watch a programme on a commercial channel the ads are often longer than the programme.

If I buy a newspaper or magazine the ads can take up to 50% of the print.

To me this is not what I want and detracts from my enjoyment of the event. I have no wish to purchase anything they force feed me with. POINTLESS, BLOCK THEM.

Unfortunately, the income from the sales don't pay for the production. The ads are what support the profitability of publications. If the ads were removed, the publication would not be able to survive.
