I've never used a registry cleaner and don't intend ever to do so. There are some links to a previous post here and to articles from both Malwarebytes and Microsoft in the following thread:

Well, I was confronted with an unstable system and decided to take advantage of 'Free Windows Registry Repair 4' as shown in this months Web User magazine (Best Free Software) That was a couple of hours ago and so far I've found a big improvement in the running of my pc . Alex

An interesting post. A variety of views. Some for, some against.

Not necessarily so. Even 3rd party uninstallers are not 100% perfect in every case and they won't remove drivers or printer software for example.

I think the general consensus is that they are rarely needed, with which I agree however there Can be times they can help but usually if there is a specific problem it needs more direct action which they are very unlikely to be able to assist with anyway.

I do still run CClearners reg tool but I am Very careful to read each item it wants to delete before I press ok and always do the backup option if in the Slightest doubt.

The registry is the brain of your machine ....careful who you let poke around in there lol

I would change "rarely" to "never", then I would agree!

I think you're right. There will always be those who use registry cleaners and those who don't.
