Default Wireless access not working

I have it appears a broken wireless connection on my Samsung laptop. Can anyone tell me what to do please. It had a new 'card' put in a month ago but it will only connect with a wired one now and says no wireless connections available other items will connect properly.

Take it back to whoever put the new card (wireless adapter?) in and tell them it doesn't work.

If it is faulty then yes it should go back. But there may be a switch that you have inadvertantly pressed. Sometimes there is a physical switch somewhere on the side of the computer or it's one one of the keys which would have a symbol like mast with semi circles coming out the sides at the top. The other thing that could cause it is the driver being corrupted for some reason but that's a bit tecky. Maybe if you post the model of your laptop we could look for a switch.

I have to say that I'm going down the "faulty again" route. I have been using laptops for donkey's years and I have never had an internal wireless card go faulty. Something may be causing them to pack up.

It looks like the whole wireless network has disappeared as the only one showing is the wired one. Will contact company who repaired it after the profile disappeared (it looks like it was Win update caused that, see thread above on this) tomorrow.

Laptop is Samsung Chromos 7 i15 processor. The wireless connection has been iffy since we changed to BT wireless as I previously always had wired connection but I was always able to reconnect until today.

It could be a power option thing.

Go Start - type devmgmt.msc and press enter when it comes up.

In Device Manager click on View/Show hidden devices and expand Network adapters.

Right click on the wireless one and select Properties.

Under the General tab it will either say it's working properly or give an error message with an error code.

If it's working properly, click on Power Management and uncheck the box for Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power - OK

Close up Device Manager and reboot to see if you get wireless back.

If it gives an error code, let us know what it says.

EDIT - Just seen your last post - if it was a Windows Update that caused it, then use your restore points to go back to before the updates installed.

F12 + Fn is your wireless on/off key. It still sounds like it's a fault but it just might be that you have pressed that key combination. It's not as daft as it sounds I do it all the time well fairly often anyway.

Will try the F12 .

Have already tried the device manager thing but there is no 'wireless' option to tick or do otherwise with. Even on the Network connections section in control panel doesn't show anything. Husband has identical laptop and it showson his. It's like you are only supposed to use a wired connection.

If the adapter isn't showing in device manager then it's gone down so you will need to take it back to whoever fitted it.
