Default Lists Of Free Security Software

These lists give an idea of the wealth of free security software that is available. I don't think they are as comprehensive as Gizmo's lists but still worth a look. Please also see John_McKenna's excellent thread Free Protection for your Computer.

18 Best Free Antivirus programs For 2014

23 Free On-Demand Virus Scanners

15 Free Bootable Antivirus Tools

16 Free Remote Access Software Tools

13 Free Online Virus Scanners

It looks as if the lists are being regularly updated.

Nice one, ezyduzzit - needs to be kept "bounced up" to the top for reference.

To E book readers using the "Gizmo" link through the first post you will also find "Gizmo,s Free e books" down loads section. It covers most of the formats you want depending on which type of e reader you have.

@rogerman40

You're welcome. I don''t post often in the Security news forum as there are better contributors here, notably Madeline. It struck me as the sort of thing she might have picked up on.

I see from an earlier thread where you wrote:

As a "newbie" here I contributed to the forums on CA where we had a monthly Security Updates thread
Please contribute if you have time, especially while Madeline is hors de combat, so to speak.

Yes, thanks very much, ezyduzzit! Please could this be a "Sticky"?

rogerman40 was a 'whizzo' in the monthly 'Security Updates' thread at that, er, other place*!

Personally, I still think it would be a good idea to have a monthly "Security Updates" thread as the now defunct other forums used to have. WU has one which I contribute to so members can see the latest security updates in one thread rather than individual postings.
I had mentioned this to Madeline in one of my first postings but got the impression it had been tried some time ago but wasn`t really necessary. Madeline`s quote, "We used to have a security thread here too some years ago, but it was decided to discontinue it.." Why and by whom?
What do others think?

Hi Roger

Welcome to the WebUser

So your trying to get a monthly security update thread on WebUser like we used to do at the other forum, it's a good idea.
