I did what you said in Firefox Quantum and under Preference Name there is no entry for Max Connections. Could it be because I am not using proxy settings?

Hmmmm no it doesnt have anything to do with a proxy, its how many connections your browser will attempt from the same server @ one time.... (I think max is 20 on any server but im not sure)

I saw a thread on mauisun in 2004 someone posted "FIREFOX SPEED TIP" and the member said they raised thier MAX CONNECTIONS to 48 and it made a huge difference..... I tried it with IE6 and man oh man!! (From 2 to 48 (or even 20) what a difference!!)

There’s no entry for “Max Connections” in about:config in Firefox 56.0.2 or Pale Moon 27.7.2 on any of our PCs.

Heres where mine is

Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
I wonder if IE6 was set to 2 because when IE6 first came out most all were on dialup and having it higher might slow down peoples computers being on dialup and all.........

Looked there and for Connections it says "Default connection, Reg Binary (Type), Data 46 00 00 00 a2 36 00 00 09 00 00 00... ad nauseum."

Whatever the above means?

Ditto. Are you still using 98 SE Dude? If so, perhaps it could be that things have changed since it was released!
