Default Re: Malwarebytes AdwCleaner

Just been looking at this after reading about it in the mag.

I already have malwarebytes free version. Avast free version. I use EPIC browser and Duckduckgo search engine.

I used to use Adblock plus when I used Google chrome as my search engine, but now I am using Epic it seems, or I would imagine, the use of Adblock plus is not necessary or obsolete.

So how necessary is Malwarebytes AdwCleaner ?

Occasionally it seems my windows 7 is slow to respond if I leave the computer desk for a while and attempt to open a new web page through Epic and duckduckgo. Not much but enough to make me wonder if there is a reason.

The computer appears to be clean as a whistle, according to malwarebytes and avast.

I have it in my mind, because I used to do it in the old days, that maybe it needs cleaned, or do people still defrag their computers ?

Just done it...it found a PUP called optional.legacy and its removed it. Did a search for this PUP before going ahead with the removal, it seems quite common.

I don't like doing this sort of thing in case something is messed up but so far so good.

When I got it, I just put a shortcut to it from the Downloads folder onto the Desktop so I can run it from there. It checks for updates as soon as it runs; you can click to see the Logfiles when AdwCleaner's open.

I've done that too. I'll probably run it regularly like Avast and malwarebytes scans.

I also cleared over 3gb of temporary internet files . I used to do this regularly when i used internet explorer but since switching to google chrome a few years ago forgot all about it.

I’ve noticed that however careful I am and whatever other scans I run, AdwCleaner nearly always manages to find something!

Good cleaner then Madeline. The shortcut will help me to remember to do it more often so long as it doesnt mess anything up.

Hello,

We use Firefox browser and the Click&Clean Add On which allows you to tell it to run CCleaner each time you close the browser so you get no build up of those temp files.

Expect it will do the similar with Chrome ..?
