Default All round the garden

Apologies if this is the wrong forum. I recently bought a Bosch lawnmower from Amazon and it directed me to a site for a free year's extension to the guarantee:

From this site there was a link to the Extended Guarantee page but when I clicked on this link I got an error message: Server Error 404, Page not found. This happened whether I used Edge, Firefox or Internet Explorer.

I phoned Bosch who told me that since it was a server error it was not their responsibility; I 'chatted' online with a BT technician who said it was not theirs, either.

Can anyone suggest how I can get access to this page so that I can extend my guarantee? Here's hoping!

The URL that you have posted.

https://www.bosch-garden.com/gb/en/garden-tools/service/warranty/index - gives you the 404 sever error.

If a URL has included additional directories/folders/links, select the full address, then go to the end of that address with the right arrow key, then select with the cursor all up to the first forward slash / and delete like so:

https://www.bosch-garden.com/gb/en/garden-tools/service/warranty/

This URL (in this example) then points to the 'warranty' page and when the 'Enter' key is pressed allows you to explore that page and hopefully progress using the included page links.
Back tracking further points to other locations/pages etc.
It could be that you mistyped the address by missing off the .jsp part of the address or if you have copied that address, then it was never there in the first place and an error was always going to happen.

Although this has now been resolved, it's possible to use the
Sitemap link on the error page and from there go to Service>Warranty. That also takes you to the page you'd get by using the 1st link in post #2. I've used the sitemap elsewhere to get to the right part of a site.

Thanks for that explanation, Moonshine. I have had this sort of error message once or twice before, and it's informative to know why it happens and how to tackle it if it occurs again. Thank you, too, Madeline, for information about Sitemap - I was totally unaware of this and hopefully it may save me some hair-tearing when I meet with similar difficulties in the future.

Hi again, Madeline: although this query has been sorted, I thought I'd look at the site again to see if I could do anything with the Sitemap link you described - and am mortified to find that I don't know enough to recognise it. Can you tell me how to identify it so that I can try it out?
