Default Reconfirm consent for Newsletter

I subscribe to many email Newsletters and over the past week or so many have asked me…….

‘The law is changing and we need you to reconfirm your consent’.

I send out a weekly email Newsletter from my website 'Mount Everest The British Story', do I need to ask my readers to reconfirm?

My website is just a hobby, I make no money from it.

Thanks!

I too have many requests to confirm I want to receive mailings, not all are newsletters. Gave me the chance to unsubscribe.

If it is a change in the the law then you probably should ask. The fact that you do not make anything from your mailings is not relevant.

Hopefully, this will not cause you too much work. a suitable note in your next newsletter should be enough.

I think there's advice and guidance about this on the ICO website.

I believe small "recreational" organisations don't have to bother.

Maybe but see https://www.thebmc.co.uk/gdpr-mounta...s-introduction

GDPR is about how securely you hold personal data as well as giving people access to the data you hold on them.

Quote "....there are no exceptions."

That is not actually the case according to recent articles I've seen in the Telegraph.

Best to study the ICO advice or even give them a ring.

Even the big firms and institutions are not all doing the same thing.

Yes, I've had plenty of the "Please stay, please re-subscribe" emails but in many cases all I'm getting is "We've updated our privacy policy - here it is."
