Default What is Spotflux and how do I get rid?

Found a folder "Spotflux" in my Program Files (x86).
Seems to be something to do with a VPN, don't recall installing.
The .exe file inside it doesn't show up in the uninstall list of Ccleaner or Iobit.
But it had an uninstall.exe file inside so I tried that.
Disaster !!!!
26 danger files flagged by KIS.
Couldn't get rid of them so had to resort to a restore point.
So the Spotflux folder is back of course.
Could just leave it as doesn't seem to do any harm but would prefer to get rid.
Should I just delete the folder?
Or any other suggestions?
Thanks

I think you may have installed it, maybe temporarily only, at some point John. The reason I'm saying this is because of a post you made back in January 2017:

It's possible that the .exe file didn't show up in CCleaner or IOBit is because it isn't actually installed - presumably there's no sign of Spotflux in either program - following the 'disinfect process' you mentioned in the post linked to above. If it isn't actually installed, then the program's uninstaller couldn't work and that may be why you had all that trouble. All I can think of is that you delete the Spotflux folder in C:\Program Files (x86) as you suggested above, but leave it in the Recycle Bin for at least a few days until you're sure that this hasn't caused any problems. Be sure to create a restore point before doing so just in case...!

Incidentally, Chrome has a Spotflux browser extension!

Blimey Madeline you've a good memory, or maybe you ran a search?
I didn't think of that and had completely forgotten about it.
(Think I mentioned in a previous post that I'm approaching senility!)

Of course it was when we discussed Opera and my VPN trials.
Still have the same problem accessing the Lottery but we've found a new way to watch UK TV over here which I am keeping a secret.
(We used to use Filmon but they started charging, not worth it for only part of the year, same reason I don't pay for any TV in the UK. It's bad enough paying for an ISP in 2 countries, and it's flippin' expensive in Portugal).

Anyway, I will probably do as we both suggest and delete the Spotflux folder.
Might ponder that and leave it for a while as no security scan flags anything.

I wish! It's quite good, but not that good!

That was it! I had a very vague memory that VPNs had cropped up in one of your threads, so I did a search to try to find it and had a Eureka! result.

Another thing which occurred to me ~ much too late to post again last night ~ was that you could try installing Spotflux (again?), particularly if you have its setup file in the folder in question, then uninstall it using your preferred uninstaller like IOBit and let the uninstaller find and get rid of all leftover stuff like files, folders, registry entries and so on. I do this sort of thing with either Revo Uninstaller or Geek Uninstaller.

I don't blame you after the rather offensive posts of another person on that thread!

Anyway, let me know how it all goes with the hopefully soon-to-be-gone Spotflux folder!

Hi Madeline,

There was no installer present.
Deleted the folder yesterday, no problems so far.
Will only report if any do crop up in future.

Regarding the rude person on the VPN thread, I looked at her profile - very interesting.
She has only ever started one thread but has contributed (interfered?) in loads of others.
She obviouly knows everything there is to know!

She's not the only one I've come across on here who behaves like that. I've begun to wonder if they're related in some way.
