This laptop battery might well suit your requirements. It's not a Toshiba branded product, but Anker are a reputable brand, and I have used a couple of their batterys on other laptops in the past with no issues.

Unfortunately there is little you can do to stop the battery from dying, over a period of time battery performance will degrade and eventually it will die altogether, the only thing you can do is either replace the battery or run on mains power.

I got a 6 cell for my C660D last March from http://www.topazsupport.co.uk/acatal...ite_C660D.html

These are genuine Toshiba parts and the £35.00 excl. VAT turned into £47.94 which included £4.95 Shipping and £7.99 VAT.

Running it down once a week since, it is now showing as 7% Degraded on HWMonitor. http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/hwmonitor.html

Have a read through http://batterycare.net/en/guide.html should you need to recalibrate the gauge as sometimes the laptop may not show the correct charge state on a new battery.

You can't stop it - it's what batteries do eventually.
My old laptop - the battery was part of the structural strength of the machine - so it had to stay put.
But I never used it off mains ... so the fact that it only had 15 minutes life wasn't an issue to me - so I never replaced it.

My new laptop it's not needed - so I've removed it ... I will only rarely ever use it off power ... so it's not a problem.

Apparently there are some machines that require a battery to work - even on mains ... so one way or another removing yours may not be an option but if you do replace it - removing the battery when you don't need it will extend it's life to some degree.

But the question is - do you need a battery? ... they are quite expensive ... and if you don't actually need the battery ... why spend money if it doesn't affect it being used?

That's a very reasonable life for a battery.

I normally just use my C660D on AC with the battery removed and it's usually just once a week when I use it just on battery to save getting my extension out to run it on AC.

My original battery was down to about 30% Degraded after about 3 years but because of the reduced usage time, I decided to get a new one - wished I'd bought the 12 cell one now but it seemed a bit pricey.
