Lightbulb The egg-timer

Can someone tell me why my PC is starting up sometimes with egg-timer symbol on desktop. This stops me from working. If I run an app like word also egg timer runs yet does not seem to do so if internet is accessed.

how do i track down the case of this egg timer?

If it doesn't happen in Safe Mode w/o Networking, then I'd perform a clean boot to see if that also stops it and then you would need to enable items one at a time until you got it back after each reboot.

In msconfig under the Services tab, ensure you check the box to Hide all Microsoft services before you hit Disable all.

Mine does that too, but in my case it's because Avast is running a root scan which takes 30-40 seconds. Other AV's could do it too?
