Question Looking for ideas on inbox control!

My inbox is a mess and I need tips on how to organise. A lot of my problem is sheer laziness - obviously no filing system ever works without regular maintenance. And there are so many options to organise them, folders, tags, custom searches and filters, stars... also these options and any filters you've set up sometimes aren't available if you use an all-in-one desktop client like Thunderbird.

I currently have folders for Account Info, Newsletters, IKEA (?) and ones for my individual web projects. And I still lose track.

How do you organise your inbox? Are there any clever ways to tie your inbox to other services like Evernote? Any other email productivity tips? Perhaps webuser could publish a 'master your inbox' article?
