I have also read that malwarebytes and anti exploit are now combined in version 3 but maybe that is just the paid for version rather than the freebie.
That's right, see post #2 in this thread. See also this post:

If I hover my mouse pointer over the 2 Malwarebytes entries in msconfig, one shows'Anti_Exploit', the other shows 'Tray Application', so perhaps the latter also refers to MBAE and its icon in the Notification Area rather than to Malwarebytes itself.

If you are running XP, this is what I have with Icon showing in Notification Area > (I've just installed latest & using the trial version)

Different appearance of ‘Customize’, same icon. Although mine says ‘Only show notifications’, the icon is always there in the Notification Area. I think I’m right in saying that NE5 is running Windows 7 for online use and uses an XP computer only for offline stuff - internet access is disabled on it.

Madeline...I've downloaded the new version of malwarebytes 3, which includes Anti Exploit. You get the 14 day trial of the full version after which you revert back to the free version without a few extras. I'm running a scan now. Because it includes Anti Exploit...seems good to me.

It will no longer include Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit once it reverts back to the free version. If you’re going to have the free version after the trial, you’ll need to install MBAE separately.

Give it a go, I don’t know of any similar program. If it works OK, you need to remember that every time Malwarebytes itself gets an update, it will uninstall MBAE so you’ll need to re-install it. It’s probably a good idea to keep the setup file for the latest version of MBAE somewhere on your PC, so that it’s easily available when you need it.
