Angry Alluc - be aware

I've used Alluc on and off for a couple of years or more to watch old films on-line. The two pop-ups before the film starts were always an irritation, but I recently managed to block those using the Firefox add-on "Popup Blocker Ultimate".

Today I decided to refresh my memory of the ancient comedy "Those magnificent men in their flying machines", and found a 30-second advert for what looks like a pornographic video game that I had to sit through before the film would start.

I muted the excessively loud noise until the advert had finished, but I'm sure a lot of people may well find an advert for something called "c**t wars" offensive. I'm certainly not interested.

I tried looking at a couple more films, just to see what would happen, and the same advert was on the "front end" of everything.

I'll continue to use Alluc occasionally because I haven't been able to find another site like it since Putlocker was taken down, but be aware if you go there. Also, it's probably worth ensuring your malware protection is up-to-date. If they're pushing that kind of thing that aggressively, I wouldn't put anything past them, especially since I got a fake "Firefox update" screen on the same site a while back that couldn't easily be closed.

If I wanted pornography or pornographic games (no thanks, I'm too old and ugly for that sort of thing), I'm sure I could find whatever I was looking for, but I don't want cr*p like that when I'm innocently trying to watch an old film.

Afterthought. I don't believe Alluc hosts any films themselves, but merely provide links to other sites.

I've always found the Openload links to be the most reliable, and that seems to be where the pornographic game is now advertised at the start of the films, in the same way that some Youtube videos insist that people watch an advert before getting to the wanted video.

Just be careful if you or anyone nearby is likely to find this kind of thing offensive (which seems to be their intention). It's only drawings and "that word", and I'm too old to be shocked by a word, but it's something to be aware of.

Update. As of this week, Alluc is no more. The message reads in part

"The alluc search engine has been discontinued.

After 13 years of alluc, we decided to take a break and focus on other projects."

It then gives a link to a porn site! No thanks! I'm old enough and ugly enough not to need that kind of thing.
