Good Evening FRIENDS,

egg: What a lovely post you gave us yesterday. It had a bit of everything even your naughty little fat friend!!

Tony Hancock, what a wonderful character he was and I loved seeing that famous sketch again.

How long will it take for it to fill up again ???
We all told you not to worry, that wouldn't help your brain. Now you have compared the brain maps. You have all the answers. How much of that would get you into the next round of 'Brain of Britain' ? Hardly chocolate I'd say. But at least with the answer to the '4 and 5' puzzle' under your belt you should do well, this was the hardest, followed by the 'paragraph'. (which I would never have guessed and I didn't think anyone else would). See, the brain exercises do work! On ever so "Ever so hard ones" too !!!

mrmatt: Dull and cold here today. No where to get away from it now in UK!

Mike: I like the joke Mike, not seen it before.

FratPark: Whey! I was surprised the 'paragraph' proved to be difficult for you.

Take Care !!!

and played all night, 'til break of day.
They played for money, not for fun
With different scores for everyone.
When it came time to settle accounts
They all had made quite fair amounts.

Now none have lost and all have gained,
Tell me now: can you explain?

Good morning friends on a windy FRIDAY morning.

Early clicks again this morning. George I do know the answer to your puzzle, but will play along with you giving everyone else a chance to 'have a guess'.

Clicks all done for today.

Good Morning Friends,

Dry and sunny at the moment and last nights storm has not hit her yet!

I had a thought on the last puzzle and think it is playing poker for fun. Could be called Dumb Pocker

None have lost because it was for fun, they gained by enjoying playing.

Clicked

All the best,

Clive

Good afternoon friends,

TB,
I've just attempted a random Brain of Britain Quiz, 10 questions.........
I "guessed" all the answers and I scored 1/10
Unfortunately there weren't any questions on Chocolate or Shoes or any of the other more interesting subjects that clutter my brain.
After all, who, other than Patrick Moore or Mystic Meg would know............

Which constellation contains the nearest star, apart from the sun, to our own solar system?
My Answer..Ursa Major
WRONG !!!!
The correct answer should have been.....
Proxima Centauri, 4.25 light years from the sun, is in the constellation Centaurus as its name suggests.

Now to your brain puzzler,

As the quote doesn't actually say WHAT they were playing, my guess would be that they were playing some sort of instrument for which they were paid for their services ????
"scores" being Musical scores ???

It's black and blustery here

TTFN.

Take care.

Good evening friends.

Just a quick return to agree with everyone's answer, although it comes in various combinations of music type.

The four jolly men are members of an orchestra hired to play at a dance.

That's why I replied at first to George when I said "I'll play along" or as Glenda and Clive's answers, which were along those lines.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend, albeit they have forecast more wind and rain for tomorrow.

Matt More rain on its way down your way for tomorrow also.

Good Evening FRIENDS,

All have a good weekend

Very much the same in these parts Matt, blustery wind all day. Might even have been too much for kite flying!

Mike
: Thanks for 'playing along', that helped to get some good answers. It must get everyone excited to see how much egg's brain power has improved since doing our puzzles! ALL WU Members should be rushing to do 'clicks' everyday now.

I see how Clive pushed his luck, ''Dumb Poker'' indeed!

egg: Good to know you have done ''Brain of Britain", ''Mastermind'' could be your next triumph! Congratulations for achieving 1/10 I wouldn't be any good at all, I still don't know the difference between a star and a planet. (Alexa just told me!) but I wont remember! Anyway what chance would I have even when there are just a few stars to remember like: there are 10 times more stars in the night sky than grains of sand in the world's deserts and beaches and that amounts to a mere seven quintilian, five hundred quadrillion grains. I think I will leave that for you to sort out, egg!

Anyway I know a bit more about Proxima Centauri and Ursa Major today than I did yesterday! But that's only until tomorrow!!

Yesterday's official puzzle answer, well sussed, 'They are musicians'

FratPark: Excellent answer but, sorry, not what we were looking for. Did you think there would be at least one 'fish' playing?

Take Care !!!

Good Morning Friends

Dry and fairly bright at the moment.

I will have a go at the latest challenge

The only way if you do not depart from the word cow, ( I did think of cow breeds with 13 letters) is to say the word.

This gives
see o double you

All the best,

Clive

Good afternoon friends,

Nice one again Clive, I'd never have thought of that.

If it wasn't for the wind
No not THAT wind, this wind...........

It would be a beautiful warm day here. I'm still struggling to keep my trees upright but Hey Ho !!! That's what you get when you live at the top of a hill, and Jack hasn't got here yet. He tells me he has a hole in his bucket !!!!
I've got a straw ready for when he eventually arrives.

TB,
Mastermind ???? Shouldn't that be Mistress-mind. Perhaps not - I don't want to be anyone's mistress.
