If I say "I would never lie to you" You can not kill me with a spell because I am probably showing you a lot of respect but you are not sure. On the other hand, you think I may be telling you the truth but you are again not sure. So you put the sword down.

Basically, you are stuck so let me go!

Good morning friends on a frosty SUNDAY morning.

Clive Thanks for working that puzzle out that George posted, it would probably have taken me a few views into Goggle to find that one.

Glenda What’s the temperature like down your way, I was watching a neighbour scraping his windscreen this morning.

George I came across this one (below) which, believe it or not, I managed to work out without bothering Google.

You are given eight coins and told that one of them is counterfeit. The counterfeit one is slightly heavier than the other seven. Otherwise, the coins look identical. Using a simple balance scale, how can you determine which coin is counterfeit using the scale only twice?

In the meantime, the important clicks have all been completed.

Good Morning Friends

Nice and sunny this morning and looks to be a dry day.

Mike your puzzle which I had a go at without going online.

First, split the coins in half one set of four will be heavier, slipt those four in two. again one set will be heavier. With just two coins it should just be possible to identify the heaviest coin.

I suspect there is probably a better answer to the last bit.

Clicked.

All the best

Good afternoon friends,

Mike,
We had a ground frost this morning but when I set off for the Boot Sale at 8.50 it had all gone so I can't say whether I had any on my windscreen or not. I know I'll need to be stocking up on the de-icer because it's so open here that there's nothing at all to shield my car against the frost, and as I've said before, because I'm at the top of a hill the wind also plays havoc.
Clive,
My team (The Blades) won yesterday and they are top of their league as well. (For now)
I'm glad you posted an answer to TB's last puzzler because I couldn't understand it never mind figure it out.
Matt,
Glad it's a bit warmer for you, it's been a bit "nippy" all day here.
TB,
Can you pick a few "easy ones" please.

Click Autumn please.

Clicked.
Take care.

Good evening friends.

Thought I would make a quick return to answer a few puzzle problems.

Clive
Quote:
it should just be possible to identify the heaviest coin.
Not without having to weigh them for a third time, as the question was “they were all identical to look at”, and had to be weighed to ascertain their authenticity.

This was the correct answer:

First weigh three coins against three others. If the weights are equal, weigh the remaining two against each other. The heavier one is the counterfeit. If one of the groups of three is heavier, weigh two of those coins against each other. If one is heavier, it’s the counterfeit. If they’re equal weight, the third coin is the counterfeit.

You weren’t far off Clive it took me all my time to work that one out.

Glenda Likewise, the weather did warm up a little this afternoon but the wind increased also.

Good news from the weather forecasters, on Wednesday we are supposed to get temperatures around 22c. Just to confuse the garden plants again.

George I agree with Glenda regarding the puzzle problem.

You need a degree in philosophy to sort some of those puzzles, even Google can’t be sure. Still, I suppose it does keep the mind occupied.

Matt Pleased your weather’s been more acceptable, we are due, as I said earlier, for some more warmer weather towards weekend.

That’s it for tonight friends, clicks all done this morning.

Good Evening FRIENDS,

Sunny with a bit of a chill factor here today.
Visited by daughter and her bf. He didn't like the look of the lawn so he offered to mow it. The usual mower man (bf of other daughter) will have a surprise when he arrives tomorrow.

egg: I must have missed the frost today - surprised!

You should try covering the car with an old blanket or buy a custom made cover. I used to hate scraping the windows. I hope the trip to the car boot was rewarding. I'm sure it was.

You've had a lot of easy riddles! We really must tax our brains sometimes!!

mrmatt: All I can say is, I'm glad I didn't have to go out today!(Sunday).

FratPark: There are several versions of the Eight coins riddle. I couldn't work it out and Google was confused!. You did brilliantly as usual, well done. You did good with the ''If you tell me the truth" puzzle. I liked your answer. But I couldn't understand any of it!

Mike:

If you tell me the truth I will kill you with my sword, if you tell me a lie I will kill you with my spell. What must you say to survive?
Answer: If you answer that he will kill you with a spell, he will demonstrate that it is indeed the truth by attacking you. If, instead, you tell a lie - that he will slay you with a sword, he proves its falsehood by letting you go.
OR You will kill me with your spell.

I don't understand it either!!!!

Take Care !!!

Good morning all. Dull at the moment.

The puzzles are interesting but getting more difficult. I had a thought about the hole one but can not think of anything sensible.

Clicked

All the best.
