I'm sure they're all very interesting Nik! You can't be too careful these days:

I don’t know, you may have to make it up! Just cast on a lot of stitches, knit a big rectangle and sew it together. It might work, but I’m not very confident about that!

Angry Re: update with updates turned off

I had this issue recently also on my W7 64bt machine, saw it say about it was installing updates do not turn off; couldnt look at it at the time and forgot about it until i saw your posts....time to check. I dont care What the update is or if my machine will explode into a Zillion pieces if an update is not installed, No one is going to install Anything on my machines without my approval; from now on I will disable Update at registery level and diary note a recurring warning to myself to check weekly. Damn; but I loath this Big Brother Knows Best crap!

I just checked my main PC for updates installed even though I am Very cautious what I allow and found some "nasties" I'm sure I didnt sanction, I'd noticed my machine had become slower to start; (20-23 seconds instead of the usuall 13 seconds) and that it has developed an annoying flash of the screen (as if it cuts out for a fraction of a second) every now and then; I'll see if removing these updates improve things; the start time is already back to 13 seconds and it hasnt flashed since restarting so far...
