Default Cooling fan not operating in HP laptop.

I turned on my 3 year old laptop today & the attached message came up.
I checked the HP link, inspected vents, (nothing obviously amiss), did a hard reset as advised by the HP link - & it made no difference whatsoever. The message was displayed as soon as I switched on again.
So I guess I have really got a wonky fan.
Now I have never been inside my laptop, but I wonder if this is a job I can easily do myself (ie obtain a new fan & fit it) or should get a repair shop to do it.
Any advice please.

What is the laptop model?

To be honest, and I am not trying to be clever with this remark, but if you have to ask the question then I would suggest you leave it to a repair person. It isn't that difficult but any laptop is hugely more difficult to work on than a desktop. There are plenty of things that could go wrong, mainly, because of the closeness of all the components.

Have a look at this link:

HP Notebook PCs - System Fan (90b, 90f) Error Message on Startup

Re updating the BIOS (in the page above).
I have seen a few machines rendered useless over the years because of updating a BIOS wrongly. If this option is needed, I would seek advice from a Professional before that task is undertaken.

Thanks for your responses:
Peru;
It just says HP Notebook: Model: 15-ac1DEna

Pete: I appreciate your advice, & I am already aware that opening up a laptop can have disastrous consequences, but even the most experienced person must have done something the first time or experience wouldn't be gained. However, I know what you mean.

Moonshine:

is the link shown in my attachment which gave me the information to do a hard reset. No, I wouldn't even think about meddling with the BIOS.

I am considering using compressed air can to blow through external vents, but I realise that this will probably only achieve blowing the muck somewhere else.
I await divine inspiration.

The closest I can find is this (see the video):

That will help clear the vent out, but if you are getting that message, the fan is probably not running, as the RPM is measured and compared to what it should be.

I have not had experience of servicing this particular model but have worked on similar HP laptops. It will require dismantling right down to the system board. A long and complicated procedure.

I recommend you do not do this yourself. Take it to a repair shop.
