Default Strange frozen page in Vivaldi

Stuck in the house following a replacement hip operation I have started backing up my stuff to the cloud.
Uploading a folder of photos to OneDrive suddenly appeared a black page with an "Aladdin's Lamp" logo in the centre. Refreshed the page and only about 80MB of 113MB had been uploaded.
Microsoft claim no knowlwdge of this so I'm assuming it must be the browser freezing during the upload process.
Am I correct ?
It's happened 3 times but only now and then.
I can't find any other reference to this phenomenon anywhere !

Thanks, I'm living with it so far as I can refresh the page, check what's missing and upload that separately.
Just interested what it is and why it happens, maybe how to stop it.
Seems to occur with larger folders although some others have been fine.

I was hoping Madeline might reply as she is the Vivaldi expert who has helped me with it before.

You could try asking about this on the Vivaldi forum to see id they have any ideas about what's happening. If you get the same sort of thing on any other browser(s), have a look at OneDrive help here:

Fix problems uploading files on the OneDrive website - OneDrive

There is also a Microsoft Community forum here:

Results in Office - Microsoft Community

I've got it set to 'OneDrive with Office' and 'Windows 8' but you can change these by using the drop-down menus at the top of the page.

Oh damn, I was hoping you'd heard of it before.
I tried some searches on Vivaldi forum without success.
But I can try a direct question as you say.
I've not had much luck with MS community in the past.
But I get direct help from MS due to my 365 sub and they claim not to have heard of it before so I rather think it's the browser.
I've finished uploading photos (about 6GB) but I need to understand this before starting videos which obviously have much larger folder sizes which I'm guessing might trigger it more often.
If I have to upload them individually or even in small quantities it'll take forever.

Good luck with it if you try IE John. It would be interesting to know if anyone on the Vivaldi forums has come across anything like this before. Whether or not they have, perhaps they'll have some helpful ideas about what was happening and how it can be resolved. Sorry I'm not much help on this!

For transferring large files or many files all at once, Microsoft recommend adding the files to the OneDrive Desktop app folder rather than the using Upload button on the website via a browser.

The example below shows a folder being r/clicked > Copied > R/click Pasted into the OneDrive Folder and the other example is R/clicking the folder > Hold > Drag into folder > Release > Choose copy (if that’s your choice).
Note: Left clicking and dragging a file/folder into OneDrive moves it. R/clicking gives you Copy or Move options.

Many thanks Moonshine, I'll definitely try it that way.

I've never used the OneDrive folder, scared of it to be honest as I don't really understand how OneDrive works, as you will now see.

Before proceeding can you enlighten me further :

(1) When I drop or paste my upload into the OneDrive folder, does the upload process start straight away then?
(2) Do I get a progress indication so know when it's finished?
(3) Does the OneDrive website need to be open during this?
(4) Afterwards, does the uploaded item have to stay in the OneDrive folder forever or can it be deleted (to save duplicated disk space)?

Madeline : No worries

Yes if you are Signed In & are connected to the Internet
(2) Do I get a progress indication so know when it's finished?
Yes – very small files may not show progress if you have a very fast connection as they will have been uploaded before the progress has a chance to show
(3) Does the OneDrive website need to be open during this?
No

If a file/folder in the PCs OneDrive window is synced with OneDrive online, then deleting them from one will delete them from the other
I strongly suggest you experiment yourself to see how it works.
If you are reluctant to do this because of potential data loss, create a folder and fill it with items, say images that you have backed up elsewhere, and start dragging/dropping/copying/pasting/deleting to see how it affects you with the setup you are using.
Do this also to OneDrive on line. Delete some files to see how it affects the folder on the PC.

Microsoft have a cap on the amount of data you can upload to OneDrive. I believe this amount can vary depending on what OS you’re using in terms of time when the account was created and what ‘offer’ they had at the time.
MS currently allow 5GB of space to be used on free accounts. Additional space can be purchased.

Note: I use Windows 10 and if you use anything different, then what you see and how it is done may differ.
There are other ways to use OneDrive - adding OneDrive to the Sendto menu as an example.
