Thar's excellent Alan! I suppose it would be possible to download the appropriate full installer every time either the Stable version or the Snapshot version of Vivaldi updated and install it over whichever one was running on the PC at the time! Hmm, tiresome though ~ I think I'll just carry on having 2 separate versions running!

I nearly always download a full installer file for any program that is updated as I invariably need to update several machines and it is more data efficient that way rather than downloading from the online source.

I do much the same, apart from anything else, you never know when you might need to reinstall a program. I keep my setup files on a separate USB stick. I have only the latest versions.

An article from gHacks about the latest version of Vivaldi:

Vivaldi 2.1 launches with Quick Commands improvements - gHacks Tech News

In the GHacks article it mentions.

"" Existing Vivaldi installations can be upgraded with a click on Vivaldi > Help > Check for Updates.""

On my set up of Viv I cannot find this???

Also is there a button for checking what Version of Viv you are running rather than me having to check everytime with my Programmes panel??

Thanks Moonshine, but I think I must have my set up different to yours. When I open Viv on Home page it opens straight into the "Speed ~Dial" as I have all my favourite web sites on that, like "Web User forum" , Weather and stuff.

Perhaps I should close it all down and start again as I use Viv all the while .
I need to change the left panel anyway as I find it gets in the way and as I like to use full screen, as my eyesight not being as good as it used to be . Right clicking "full screen", on and off is getting tedious.

It doesn't matter what your Start Page is fosseway, you should still have the Vivaldi logo in the top left hand corner of the browser. You can then click on Help>Check for Updates. Another thing you could try is to get the browser to notify you when an update is available. Go to Tools>Settings or press Alt+P to open Settings; scroll down to Updates and tick 'Notify About Updates'. This isn't 100% reliable as sometimes it seems to untick itself!
