I've received several Amazon scam emails. I forward them to Amazon as they requested I do that when I Phoned them.

Always check for bundled unwanted extras when downloading and installing any new software and be sure to decline them.
Use custom install when itís available. Read all of every window before clicking.

The trouble is that many people won't know that they should do that and some of these scams are very plausible. More advice from BT:
