Default Explanation please.

I read another post from Madeline regarding a load of personal information that had been displayed on an open web site.
What is the best course of action if you check to see if your info has got out and find it has? Dump all of your e mail addresses or just change the passwords or find alternative security to protect yourself?
Sites such as "Have you been pwned", talk about "pastes" and other terms which are not very informative. I feel it would be useful to everyone if this was explained more fully.
Maybe an article in the mag would be useful?

Do you mean this post fosseway? Basically 'pwned' means 'hacked' and that the email address is the victim of a data breach. You can check if either your email address(es) or password(s) or both have been pwned by using the 2 links below:

Have I Been Pwned: Check if your email has been compromised in a data breach

Have I Been Pwned: Pwned Passwords

The FAQs have some useful info:

Another useful article is this one from Which?:

What to do if you've been pwned Which Computing Helpdesk

Scroll down to "What should I do if my account has been pwned?" for their advice. See also:

Another article you might like:

What to Do If A Site You Use is Pwned (Data Breach) Computer Help for Small Business

Although it says 'Small Business', it has info which would be helpful to individual users too.
