Question GlassWire Free Firewall - comments

Hi, has anyone tried this new free firewall which is very visually pleasing?

http://filehippo.com/download_glasswire_free_firewall/

Positive quotes from computing press at official site:

https://www.glasswire.com/

Thanks!

P.S. looking at the GlassWire forum the first post is August 2014 so it's a year old:

https://forum.glasswire.com/

And someone else has found the design visually pleasing:

"The design caught my eye from the start. Who is responsible for the stunning design?"

I rely on Windows own firewall, always have, and had no problem. GlassWire may look good but can not remember when I last looked at my firewall if I ever have!

It actually looks like it might be a reasonably useful tool to someone wanting to get to grips with firewalls.

At work the security bunnies used graphical tools to monitor the Hardware firewall
That showed the incoming and outgoing traffic etc.

That said - frat's right ... most people never see their firewall ... since 7 the windows offering is pretty good for most people - and it's got better since....

The proof of the pud though is how well it works - not how pretty it looks.

Very pretty! I'm with FratPark about the appearance - how often do you look at your firewall? I fully agree with izzit when he says

Absolutely right!

Design is not the most important part of the firewall, even though of course it does not hurt to have a good one.

While it looks good on the FileHppo page (NO comments!) What will it run like under pressure?

Is OK for a novice to mess about with practicing how the mechanics of a Firewall work(Offline ? ) but I wouldn't use it in Service, how will it react with an Antivirus Program? Such as Avast! or AVG?
The Windows 7's Firewall does a decent job with Minimal setup (if any needed?)

I thought the MalwareTips review was interesting, GlassWire sounds OK. If I was wanting to get a new firewall, I'd want to know more from other people's experience over at least a few months about how well it works first.

Same here.
The GRC ShieldsUp site shows my computer to be totally stealthed on the first 1056 ports.

Since this Thread was posted in 2015 This App I'm guessing was aimed at Windows 7

Forward to 2018 and the current Firewall situation.
Windows 10 Firewall is very strong/reliable compared to the offerings for W7,8 and earlier Which I agree does better with a 3rd party Firewall/AV Combo. Comodo was the Brand I remained loyal to,however in 2018 all they are advertising is their Antivirus product.
