Default Security on a USB

Perhaps I am just imagining this. However, I am sure I read an article in webuser (might have been computer active-sorry!) where by you install a file onto a usb stick. The pc periodically "pings" this and if the file is found it continues to work. If not, then the pc won't function.

The easy way to secure your pc then is to remove the usb stick.

Can anyone recall the article and what issue it was in?

Hi

Apologies for the delay in replying but I think the Issue of Web User you're looking for is 426, which had a range of USB security tools in the Weekend Project.
