Default Sound advice

If you are like me you may use your mouse a lot and tend to forget what your keyboard can do. For example, I have a regular need to turn down the sound when playing a game to avoid hearing a noise every time I make a move. I used to use the mouse to change the level of the speakers. I now use the keyboard:

F6 - silences the speakers
F7 - decreases the sound
F8 - increases the sound

Is that for Windows 10?
It doesn't work for me on Windows 7.

Yes, it is on Windows 10, I thought that that was something I had used once on Windows 7. Obviously not.

It appears that some keyboards on Windows 7 may have a key to silence the speaker if not this advice will be useful,

It didn't work for me in Windows 7 either. Recently I've got into the habit of muting the sound unless I actually need it. I use the icon on the taskbar to mute the speakers.

Don't want to be flash but if you ever need to replace your keyboard look for a gear Head. I replaced mine (and mouse both wireless) for a Gear Head combo from Maplins, only cost about £20 ish.

What attracted me was 14 special shortcut buttons and a big plus was an actual volume control knob top right of the layout. This is particularly handy when watching Youtube video at full screen in a reclined position and the sound jumps up or down. Just a turn of the knob and instant optimum level achieved. I bought it in June this year and the mouse and keyboard have the same batteries with no indication yet of replacements being needed, they can't last much longer surely.

The volume knob alone has proved it's worth. I think my next replacement will now also have to have a volume knob. My only complaint, if you can call it that is that it doesn't have a browser back shortcut button, but I dare say that is I dug around a bit there will be a way to reprogame one of the shortcuts buttons I don't use.

This is it on ebay and only 15 squid, New but listed as seller refurbished
