Default CCleaner v5.38.6357 - 12/12/2017

CCleaner has been updated to v5.38.6357, 12/12/2017. If you run the program, it should advise you that an update’s available if you’ve set it to do so. You can also get the update via the following link:

Download CCleaner

The Release notes are shown also on the above download page.

You can also get the download from either MajorGeeks or FileHippo if you prefer.

Anyone who uses CCleaner may be interested to see the "Named & Shamed" article on page 10 of issue 517 of CA. This refers to the bundling of Avast with CCleaner, although you may not have seen this if you're updating rather than doing a new installation and it's not there right now anyway. From the article:
Quote:
Acknowledging that not everyone appreciates bundled software, Piriform says it has "paused distribution while we improve the experience to make it clearer to the customer how to accept or decline the Avast offer".
Here's a thought: if you want to 'improve the experience', don't pester us with these offers in the first place. Let's hope the feature remains paused for good.
Unchecky would help if/when it comes back!

The same thought ran through my mind but I don`t think so. I have it on my laptop and it`s still available from https://unchecky.com/

I`m also surprised when magazines mention bundled software being downloaded with programs there is rarely a mention about using Unchecky to overcome the problem. Rather, they like to knock the programs but look just how many carry bundled software with them these days.

No. Sorry, perhaps I worded my post badly! When I said that "Unchecky would help if/when it comes back!" I was referring to the Avast "offer" which was bundled with the CCleaner download and about which the CA article said

as shown in my post #3 above.
Unchecky is fine and doing its job as usual!

I so agree with you! I emailed Daniel Booth about this over something similar with a different program - BurnAware - as you can see here:

BurnAware - Named & Shamed? - Web User Forums

Needless to say, I never got any response, but Jane Hoskyn isn't there any more, perhaps her successor will be an improvement....

I was surprised that this time, the portable build doesn't seem to be available yet. Usually it appears on the 'Builds' page along with the Standard installer as soon as the update is announced, with the Slim Build turning up later.
