No, it is an old Dell Optiplex 760 which probably predates SD card readers being included. Having said that, I remember having SD card reader on one of my previous computers, a Vista one I believe, and that went wrong within a year as well!

Must be a weak link.

I have them on all of my Toshiba laptops dating from 2010.

Last year one of my sons used his on this laptop and it worked fine but that is the only time it has been used because I don't have any.

I contacted Epson Support today; it took about 10 minutes to get through, but I spoke to a nice gentleman called Alexander about the problem with my XP760.

He said it sounded like an electronic fault and the printer would need a service. As it is out of warranty, he said it would cost about 118 to repair!

After I stopped laughing, he explained that it needed looking at by an engineer, which I understood, but as I explained to him, it only cost me 79.95 new, so I would not be going ahead with the repair.

We parted on good terms and I gave him a high report on the survey which followed.

Ah well, I can still use the printer from my PC, so I am not really that bothered; it is just a little niggle that I will overcome.

Thanks for the contact number Cantrel.

I told you they were helpful, but you may not always get the info you would prefer.

Do you have a friend or relative that could bring over a laptop for you to install the printer onto to determine if it is the printer or your PC ?

It is definitely the printer. I disconnected it from the pc and completely uninstalled it, but still the slots would not work in standalone mode.

Do you know how to do a hard reset on the XP760? I know it can be done on some Epson printers, but cannot find a way for this machine.

If it's possible for this machine then I would think it will be in the printer control panel for Set up.

There is a Restore Default Settings for my Epson Stylus SX425W.

Yes, on the printers with no screen, like yours, it is quite simple, but I cant see anything in the instructions for mine. Never mind.
