Default System Image for Windows 8.1

In CA issue 516 "Hackers New Tricks......" a system image backup was recommended.
I have never done this before and can't find this facility in 8.1
(The screenshot in the mag was Windows 7 Backup and Restore)
Am I missing something or do I need separate software?
Thanks.

You can do it in W 8.1 but it is deliberately concealed to push people on to OneDrive and File History.

Most people would do it with third party (free) software. I use EaseUS Todo for system images and Cobian backup for just my personal files
Tornado's posts on EaseUS are legendary and you can't go wrong following him:

Others use Macrium Reflect and you can find posts on that elsewhere on the forum. Some external HDD's come with that preinstalled.

It's really the only safe way to be sure you can recover whatever attacks you (except hardware bugs of course - for those you might need a clone)

Many thanks for the reply Mike.
I think I'll give EaseUS a go.
I've looked at Macrium but it seems complicated.
I have just started using Google Backup & Sync for my documents whcich seems to be working perfectly.

This one is very easy to use:

EaseUS is nearly half a GB ! - and it's only the free version.

Any idea why? All the others I've looked at are less than 200MB.

Any idea roughly how long it'll take to make the system image?

P.S. I have started using Google Backup & Sync for my documents which seems to be working perfectly.
