Default Administrator Blocked

I am getting the following message whenever I try to open a programme - this app has been blocked by your system administrator and this happens even when I select run as administrator: without being too technical (I am 81 years old) can anyone tell me how I am supposed to get any software installed on my Desktop PC to run. I have Windows 10.

Do you have a restore point that will take you back to when you were able install/run any programs.

This may have been changed because of a Windows Update, possibly somehow changing the Group Policy Editor.

It may be that the UAC is set too high. In Search, type UAC. Click on User Account Control Settings. Move the slider to its lowest position. If you can now open your program, try moving the slider up a notch

Sorry Cantrel, I have been having this problem for several months and System Restore does not go back far enough. Previous to to-day I was able to go back to the programme and select run sa administrator - today that didn't work and it still said Programme blocked etc! Catch 22!!
Thanks to Calimanco but I took the slider all way down with my success - when I ticked 'OK' I got System blocked so couldn't even get the slider to activate.

Well this is what a Google brings up for your problem but not sure if the solution applies to you which clicking on the internal link will take you to.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/...error-when-you

This uses Group Policy Editor which isn't available in Win 10 Home if that is what you are using.

However, the following tutorial will show you how to enable GPE in Win 10 Home.

https://www.itechtics.com/easily-ena...-home-edition/

I've applied this to my Win 10 laptops.

If you are also blocked from carrying out elevated commands then see if you can open a Command Prompt (Admin) and enter this cmd -

net user administrator /active:yes

shutdown /r /t 00

and then click on the Admin icon to log in after the reboot.

To disable the hidden admin account after, change yes to no in the command.

Hello again Cantrel - I started to install your first suggestion (gpedit enabler) but when I teried to run as administrator I got the message that my system administrator had denied me access to this software. Ithe tried the second suggestion and after running cmd and entering the first line and pressing enter, I got message ' access denied'!!!!

I was hoping that perhaps you could try the admin cmd from the advanced boot options command prompt, but when I've just tried it, while it said the command completed successfully, there's no Admin icon on the desktop after the reboot.

That's strange - it didn't appear when doing it from a normal Command Prompt (Admin) either, although from this tutorial it should do.

Perhaps you should contact MS Support to see if they'll give you some free help with this.

Probably a stupid reply but have you tried installing or changing settings mentioned above using Safe Mode?

Not the MS forum - they are usually useless.

If you ring that number it will get you through to their tech dept and hopefully you will get a tech who knows what they are talking about - because at least one that I know of was rubbish.

They will probably want to hook up to your computer.

Can you remember if this problem started after a particular update or downloading anything else ?
