Default PUP.Optional.Conduit

http://www.malwareremovalguides.info...l-intructions/

just did a routine scan by malwarebytes (free) and it picked up PUP.optional.conduit.

I quarantined it, did another scan, but it picked it up again. REpeated this action. Still picking it up.

In accordance with the above link, I'm now performing an adw cleaner scan etc.

Even though it says it isn't dangerous etc and even if the adw cleaner removes it (still scanning) I have never had this before, so where does it come from and how can I stop it from reappearing ?

I logged out of my chrome preference - which to my knowledge I was never logged into and the gmail address was an obsolete one anyway because I HATE this google interaction stuff, I have always wanted my phone and tablet to be totally independent of my PC for security and banking reasons - then I ran about the 6th malwarebytes scan because everytime I ran one followed by an adw cleaner scan, this PUP.optional.conduit just came back.

Since logging OUT of my chrome preference altogether, I've just done a malwarebytes scan and the pc is clean. I haven't followed it up with anything else and only did it once.

I don't understand what has happened or what I've done at all here. Or how I was getting these PUP's.
