EDGE connection but no internet

Hi, using XP Pro and Orange's internet Everywhere for internet connection. When a 3G signal present I have no problems, but if 3G is absent but there is a strong Edge signal I can connect to the system but can't get internet. This is whether I use automatic selection of service or Edge only. Any ideas?

Try going into your browser and deleting the cache and browsing history.
Have you tried updating the driver for your "internet everywhere dongle"?

Thanks for that and sorry for delay; been away. Deleting cookies etc doesn't help and I'm using latest version of Oranges Internet Everywhere. I also have the same problem if I connect an antenna to a 3G router. ie it works on a feeble 3G but won't give me an internet connection with the strongest EDGE signal. To be exact, the browser (Chrome) always says 'can't resolve URL' rather than not connected to internet. Could there be some setting buried in XP Pro that needs tweaking???

Not familiar with Orange Everywhere/3G/Edge but if it's a browser thing, when I have problems with IE I pop into Tools/Content and clear the SSL State which normally does the job (as well as clearing out temp files etc).

That sounds like a DNS issue.

Is it possible that there are separate DNS settings for 3G and 2G (EDGE) and that the 2G DNS addresses need to be configured?

Are you able to connect to the website when entering the URL into the browser search box and then using the relevant link ?

You could try entering this cmd as an Adminstrator from the cmd prompt and rebooting afterwards to see if that sorts it.

Thanks for some useful suggestions, I'll report back next time I can only get EDGE and see if anything there works.
