Re: Do I need to worry?

I restored mine back to 1803 on the machine that didn't seem to be affected as the other one had.

That was because I want the next release to be a clean install rather than just overwriting bits...

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

Xbox controls that.

I was once having a clean out of bloat that I didn't think I would need and uninstalled Xbox where I found I could no longer run Klondike, but as you can still play games, then...

Re: Fileless Malware Web User 459

Robert told me that the article was more of a newsy article as opposed to a technical one and that it didn't advise disabling WMI - which is what I was going on as I don't get the mag.

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

It seems to be contradictory that it has reported that it has repaired all files when you are getting the same errors found.

I don't know if those file have an adverse effect on you in any form...

Re: Fileless Malware Web User 459

I've been informed that the article doesn't advise turning off WMI and as other devices/services are dependent upon it, it isn't a good idea to disable it.

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

Can you run another sfc /scannow to see what it reports this time.

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

Can you post the CBS log to see if it was repairing the same Metadata files as before ?

It looks like the /startcomponentcleanup did the job for the /restorehealth cmd.

You may still need to do...

Re: The iWatch doesn't have a camera!

All the BBC News seem to be reporting now is that the UK and US will boycott some investment meeting if it is proven that they murdered him - probably because the video and audio evidence is yet to...

Re: The iWatch doesn't have a camera!

I think it was reported that it was only audio that was transmitted to the iPhone.

The Turks don't appear to be sharing that just yet though to prove their claims.

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

I'm not sure if this dism cmd would resolve that but enter -

dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

That can take a while to run in some cases but run another /restorehealth cmd...

Re: Is it the end of the supermarket checkout till?

I also tend to use the self service in Tescos and Asda rather than queueing up behind large trolleys.

In Aldi you don't get the choice but they are so quick that they can get through the largest...

Re: Is it the end of the supermarket checkout till?

I think there are still quite a few of us who don't have mobile phones and I still prefer to use cash at the checkout instead of my debit card, which reduces the possibility of fraud.

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

I've ran a sfc /scannow in Command Prompt (Admin) and was able to put the icon onto the desktop.

Mine came back clean so it doesn't show any files it needed to repair.

I didn't need to zip it...

Re: Searching for a stable MTU Value which passes the Ping test

It's probably best not to have any other devices connected when doing a ping test and trying different DNS servers can also reduce the latency.

Instead of TalkTalk's servers, I use Level3 servers...

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

I always run an antimalware scan with the free version of MBAM even though I also have Norton Security before I create the image.

I also run a sfc /scannow to ensure I'm not backing up corruption....

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

Yes, I got the same error message in Powershell.

I'll run another sfc /scannow later in Command Prompt (Admin) where it should work and post the CBS log.

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

I've only ever used that cmd in a Command Prompt (Admin) but I'll run a sfc /scannow in Powershell and try that cmd.

Tomorrow may be too late to run that cmd as the CBS log can be volatile, so it...

Re: Breathtaking Images from The International Space Station.

Given the recent disaster with the ship bringing their replacement crew, it looks like they could have up to another 200 days to take some more photos.

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

That's fortunate that sfc repaired files.

If you want to post the CBS log, copy and paste this cmd which will put an icon onto the desktop which you can right click on and zip up to attach.

I've found on one of my Win 10 laptops that the system restore done from the recovery environment after booting up with an install disk fails and gives an error code.

It does however work in safe...

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

Even though Windows reported it as failed, it had been pointed out that some changes had been made which would make me very wary about using that restore point again.

I've been left in limbo twice...

Re: SYSTEM RESTORE

If it has just partially restored then I wouldn't use that one again as it could be corrupt and you could end up with just a black screen with a big white arrow.

Open a Command Prompt (Admin) or...

Re: Epson Printer and non brand ink

As you use branded inks then that won't affect you but for those who use(d) generic inks, then I would think an uninstall/reinstall and not allow the update should get you back to where you want to...
