Re: Windows Backups

Tks for quick and focused reply. I have studied briefly the article.
There is the distinction between differential and incremental backups. I suspect that the latter is much more economical on...

Windows Backups

I believe that Windows (7) has a backup facility built in. Does this handle just files and folders, or the registry also? If the latter then would it be equivalent to dedicated stand alone backup /...

Re: Yahoo Mail sign in from mobile blocked

Yes I've looked up your articles in my desktop browser, that's the easy bit. What is not quite so clear is how exactly to single out and apply the contents to my situation!

Re: Yahoo Mail sign in from mobile blocked

Thanks for quick reply. I have tried a few of the approaches described in the articles (deleting some recent app downloads) a bit at random (the menu system does not seem to quite tally with mind) so...

Yahoo Mail sign in from mobile blocked

My default is to use Yahoo Mail on my W7 desktop, but to mirrow or shadow the correspondence on my Samsung S3 Android mobile. On the mobile there are two options: One is a blue icon which takes me...

Re: AVs value for money

Common sense has been known to let me down in the past :( (not so common). If I had reason to believe that one system was more effective that its competitors as far as for example Ransomware is...

Re: AVs value for money

"I once uninstalled Norton to give the free Bitdefender a go"

The Bitdefender I saw on Amazon certainly wasn't a freebie. Law of the jungle it seems to me.

Re: AVs value for money

Tks for very relevant info. Interesting that Bullguard is downrated for Ransomware (which I rate as important) even though it specifically claims to protect against this. Perhaps this is a recent...

Re: AVs value for money

To partly answer my own question I see that Bullguard is on sale at Amazon @25 in its "Easter offer". I suppose you can purchase now and install later when the current program expires?

That said,...

Re: AVs value for money

That certainly was my attitude up until last year when my PC shop recommended upgrading to Bullguard. But whether freebie or paid-for it still seems to be a game of roulette how to decide rationally...

AVs value for money

I opted last year to go for a paid-for AV suite - Bullguard - with no particular regrets. But they are now prompting me to do an advance renewal @ 37 (for 3 PCs - I need only one).

It seems that...

May I ask the Forum if software exists that would help with the following:

Re: Mobile Security

I am sure that my mobile security leaves much to be desired even allowing for there being absolutely no downloaded banking apps on it.
Access to my email is unprotected unlike via my desktop and it...

Re: Mobile Security

I was quite unaware of the difference between Mobile Data and Wi-Fi links as far as security is concerned. I would have guessed the opposite.

It is one thing to consider what steps to take oneself...

Mobile Security

I confess to being behind the times with mobiles - I am as reluctant to download banking apps to my S3 Samsung as I am to use contactless cards - for basic security considerations.
Following thought...

I was told that if I...

Question Re: Sync / mirror desktop hard drives possible?

Rather than "sync" (wrong terminology) my 2 W7 desktop PC's I want to "link" them to enable file transfers to be done directly, as and when required. I have connected both machines, both offline,...

Re: HP Colour Print Secrets?

My thoughts entirely except that you are rather more diplomatic and I don't want to be reported to the mods for using abusive language. To say nothing of the universal FAQ - fob offs.
