Win 10 has its own Windows Defender which some use while others opt for the free version of Avast - I use the paid for Norton Security.

What did you use on Win 7 ?

I once had that problem with a link so I closed the main link and reopened it where I then got the Run option.

Have you tried just clicking on Run instead of Save so that it will auto open.

Can you see if ImgBurn will burn the disk to eliminate the CD/DVD drive as the cause.

I just uninstalled all of the tiles and my desktop looks just the same as when I had Win 7 on here except for having the Store icon in the taskbar.

As an after thought, can you see if the machine will boot with the keyboard disconnected ?

It may be just that which is pulling things down, but a laptops components are very sensitive.

It could well be but it could be worth taking it in to a repair shop to confirm.

I had PC World change a motherboard in a Toshiba laptop for less than I expected.

The board cost 60 and PC...

I learned about it when I was working another forum - perhaps it didn't affect anyone on here either, so wasn't mentioned.

However, at the time I wasn't aware it only affected Asus mobos.

I kept getting web page not responding but I think the problem is because I don't use an add blocker in IE.
