Just to clarify, it's an ~ 5m telephone extension from phone socket connected in turn to an ~1.5/2m RJ11 broadband cable to the Home Hub.

You could try in FF via Open Menu ('hamburger') top right > Options > General & untick Performance & then untick Use Hardware Acceleration.

Whether this might have a knock-on effect in other areas...

BT Infinity with Home Hub V6 (~ 3 feet from PC)
Download Speeds > Ethernet was ~ 50 Mbps & now ~ 70 Mbps.
WiFi was ~ 30 Mbps & now ~ 50 Mbps.

I use an ~ 5m extension from phone socket to Home...
