I've just logged in with my Win 7 laptop and this is what I see in Turn Windows features on or off -

As you can see, you can uncheck each item individually.

Yes, WMP still works although initially it said there was a problem and I red X'd it to close it down.

I restarted it and it told me it hadn't been shutdown properly but red X ing it again and...

Go Start - type appwiz.cpl and press enter when it comes up.

Click on Turn Windows features on or off and wait for the window to populate.

There you will see Media Features - click on the plus...

It wasn't convenient for me to check my Win 7 laptop when I posted yesterday, but on checking it, it is listed as Media Features.

On expanding that, I have three items which can be unchecked...

The best way to see what is hogging resources is to open Task Manager/Processes and if you click on Memory or CPU it will sort to the highest user first.

It may not actually be the tuner.

You may yet get it naturally but there hasn't been any adverse effects on my AMD machine, although it may be a bit too old to be affected - the same for this Intel based one.

When checking the App Features setting on this machine re, the Win 10 Con thread, I happened to do a manual check for updates and it found the one in the thread title.

Well the update hasn't changed my default settings - it still displays as Allow apps from anywhere.

I haven't checked my other Win 10 machine yet.
