Buying a new PC
Hi, I'm in a dilemma, I have 3 quotes for my new PC from Palicomp, PC Specialist, and Chilliblast, and all are around the same price. It's hard to compare each build exactly as each uses a slightly different component.

As an avid reader of Webuser, the 3 companies are continually advertising in this magazine, I was wondering has anyone any experience with purchasing their PC's from them that could give some guidance.

My aging PC was purchased from a high street trader who is no longer in business.

Re: Buying a new PC

Bit surprised no one has answered your question before now....

We have not bought from those three companies, but they have been around for many years and as always you do see some buyers comments on the web and in the magazines, but how representative they are is difficult to say.

(we have purchased from CCL many times and never had a problem).

As with any such online purchase make sure everything is detailed in writing/quotations , partic with build and delivery time and pay by credit card so you are fully covered should things go wrong.

If they are all similar machines then think our deciding factor would be the best warranty terms offered.

Would be interesting to know the specification of you proposed purchase.

Re: Buying a new PC
Hi George, thanks for your reply and advice, I haven't heard of CCC but have had a look at their website. I will contact them on Monday to discuss a build. It is difficult to make a direct comparison as they use different components.

The build I'm looking at is a quotation for one of the suppliers

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z370P
Processor: Intel Core i5-8600
Memory: 16 GB DDR 2400 MHz ( 2* 8GB sticks)

Hard Drive 1: M.2 PCLe SSD 250 GB Samsung 970 EVO
Hard Drive 2: Seagate 2TB BarraCuda
PSU: EVGA 80 Plus 600W

Re: Buying a new PC
Hello again,

Thats a good looking powerful system, though no mention of a screen to match its capabilities.

Being local to them, have used CCL since they started many years ago, not that many keep going for so long.

You can spec your own system - https://www.cclonline.com/pc/

Have bought from Palicomp and Chilblast in the past and found both to be reliable companies.
